Features

RustStop® RS-5 …

  • is suitable for all kinds of vehicles (new and used) – for cars, trucks, busses, tractors, motorhomes, utes or motorbikes. There are 6, 12 and 24 volt models available.
  • uses two proven technologies. It succesfully combines impressed current and sacrificial anode technology and is therefore 100 % effective in wet and dry conditions. The Rust Magnets™ (sacrificial anodes) give you visual proof that the system is working, because they will corrode (instead of your vehicle).
  • protects the entire car round the clock (24/7), inside and outside. It uses less battery current than most vehicle alarm systems and will not interfere with other electrical installations.
  • is scientifically proven (e.g. by Heriot-Watt University in Great Britain). These test results show that it inhibits at least 76 % of rust, which means that it increases your vehicle’s life by over 400 %.
  • is environmental friendly and of highest quality. It is made under strict quality control norms in South Africa and is also an eco-friendly alternative to conventional spray-on coatings.
  • is easy to install yourself. You don’t need any special tools for the installation (except a pair of pliers and screwdrivers) and the modul is transferrable from vehicle to vehicle.
  • protects vehicles from rusting since more than 25 years and is the global market leader in matter of electronic rust protection.
  • offers a 10 year manufacturer’s warranty.
How it works

Brief Explanation

Rust needs free electrons to form. The strong positive charge on the Rust Magnets™ (sacrificial anodes) attract the negative free electrons away from your vehicle and now they corrode rather than your vehicle.

Full Explanation

Any steel contains millions of free electrons which are negatively charged and move around in the metal due to positive and negative charge differences caused mainly by impurities in the steel.

These small charge differences (normally around 1 volt) act almost like a magnet, and so the negative free electrons are attracted towards and accumulate at the positive points. When these free electrons are exposed to oxygen and water (moisture), a reaction occurs and they are lost from the steel. This reaction is also known as RUST.

RustStop® RS-5 outputs a positive charge onto the Rust Magnets™ (sacrificial anodes), approximately 50 times greater than that between the impurity and iron atoms (approx. 45 volt). The iron and impurity atoms are now effectively all negatively charged in relation to the strong positive charge on the Rust Magnets™ and so the free electrons are attracted towards the Rust Magnets™.

The Rust Magnets™ now corrode rather than your vehicle.
